Dr. Tarun Gupta

Dr. Tarun Gupta is a rare combination of a pragmatic doctor and a passionate entrepreneur. Graduating from Mayo College in Ajmer in 1977, Dr. Gupta went on to complete his MBBS by 1982. After practicing in Mumbai for 5 years, Dr. Gupta decided to expand his horizons by venturing into other aspects of the medical sphere, namely by joining a top 5 Indian pharmaceutical company: Lupin Laboratories Limited. At Lupin, Dr. Gupta quickly rose up the ranks; after joining the international marketing division he was asked to relocate to Hong Kong to tackle the Chinese market. After spending years forging Sino-Indian relationships for Lupin, Dr. Gupta realized there was a huge opportunity to act as an intermediary between China and India.

He decided to back himself in serving this niche, and in 2002, Dr. Gupta started his own Hong Kong based trading company. Dr. Gupta has managed to grow his company into a well known name for Chinese manufacturers looking to export their products out of China. His first entrepreneurial success led Dr. Gupta to open multiple internationally located affiliate offices before coming back full circle to Mumbai, where in 2009 he decided to start P.K. Pharma by partnering with Mr. Basant Shrivastav and Mr. Rajesh Gupta.

Dr. Gupta’s 25+ years of experience as a doctor, a businessman and a facilitator has greatly benefited the companies he has worked for; one day he hopes the same experience will benefit the pharma industry as a whole too.
